Gogh, Vincent Van
► (1853-90) Pintor holandés. Empezó a dibujar y pintar a la edad de 28 años. Se trasladó a París, y el contacto con el impresionismo contemporáneo desenvolvió con rapidez increíble sus verdaderos medios de expresión. Sus perturbaciones nerviosas y mentales hicieron necesaria su reclusión en una casa de salud de Auvers-sur-Oise, donde se suicidó. Sus cuadros tienen un colorido desbordante; el color puro y la luz llega a convertirse en una obsesión para él. Se le considera uno de los precursores del arte actual y contribuyó a dar una nueva orientación a la pintura a través del expresionismo. Obras: Los girasoles, Café de noche, El cartero, varios Autorretratos y Puente sobre la vía férrea, entre otras.
